We have big dreams and high hopes at ACF and we want you to help us. We’ve decided to give you information about all of our financial responsibilities and aspirations. That way, you will know where your money is going and how it is being used.
Even though some of these totals may seem big – please contribute whatever you can. No amount is too small. We just want you to join us in this endeavor. We need everyone! So, if friends or family members ask what they can do to help – they can give to ACF and help us give you information and gain new insights into how to treat this condition.
It is also worth noting what your money is not paying for. Kent and Susan Arnold, founders of ACF, are not getting paid for their time, energy, vision and inspiration. They are doing this because they believe in this process. They have also donated all office supplies, computers, telephone charges and any travel expenses needed for the start up period. The members of the Pre-Launch Steering Committee, Board of Directors and the Scientific Advisory Board are also volunteer positions who will donate many hours of their time.
There are 3 categories in our budget. You have the option of which part of this endeavor you would like your money to go to. In addition, in some areas, you have the option of contributing your money now or making a pledge. When you make a pledge, we will contact you for the actual contribution once we have reached our goal.
- Initial ACF operational expenses during start up include:
- Salary for Foundation Coordinator.
- Website maintenance and improvements.
- Center for Testing, Treatment and Clinical Research for Abetalipoproteinemia is a collaborative project between Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and ACF. The money that ACF contributes will go toward:

- Salary for dedicated administrative staff.
- Salary for a clinical care coordinator.
- Travel assistance for families that qualify.
- Research Funding
